Almost all of us in one time of life have difficulty falling asleep at night. This is a common problem, and I personally had it more than once. I’m tired but I can’t silence my mind and order him to rest.
As I’m trying to fall asleep, my mind wanders throw countless thoughts. There are times when I need an hour or two to fall asleep.
It’s well known that sleep deprivation is unhealthy and we need an average of 6-8 hours a sleep if we want to function at our optimal levels during the day.
Being tired and sleep deprived destroys our productivity and can provoke some health issues.
WebMD gives a sleep loss result and that is a list of variety of issues like:
-High blood pressure
Luckily , I found this nifty little trick called the “4-7-8” breathing technique that makes me fall asleep in just 60 seconds and I would like to SHARE it with you.
Developed by Dr. Andrew Weil, this technique is extremely easy : a blend of meditation and breathing helps the body to counteract stress.
The idea of the technique is to breathe in on the nose for four seconds, then hold this breath for seven seconds and exhale for eight seconds.
Repeat this three times and you are asleep.
This technique will calm your heart rate and relaxes your body. I have Dr. Andrew Weil video below that will help you to learn this technique :
