To go to the dentist’s office to fill cavities is so old fashioned. First, your teeth must be drilled and then filled, and some may experience the so-called ‘dentist stress’.
However, we have good news. There is no need to go to the dentist to stop the cavity. You can do this at your own home.
The teeth have four layers, which are gradually damaged by acid. They become dissolved over time and cavities appear.
There are many symptoms that indicate tooth decay. There can be discoloration on the teeth, pain when eating, sensitivity to hot and cold or a toothache. Going to the dentist and getting a filling can relieve all this, but if you are scared of the process, there is another way.
Filling cavities without the need for a drill
Just recently a research from Japan has developed a way to fill cavities without drilling. This research has discovered a paste, which is similar to the tooth enamel (the hard mineralized protective shell known as the first tooth layer). This kind of paste can be used to fill cavities without the need to drill them first. So, stress aside, you won’t ever have the need of going to the dentist again to fill cavities.
The research proved that the paste inside the cavities was as hard and stable as metal fillings. The paste can easily be filled into the cavities, so the chances of decay spread will be minimized. However, the paste should only be used in the first stages of decay.
How to use it?
The paste is composed of acid and hydrogen peroxide and it can cause inflamed gums if not used properly. Consultation with a dentist before using it is recommended.
This paste can be purchased only by dentists and they distribute it to their patients. It gives effect in only 20 minutes, so your cavity will be filled in no time. The paste will be available for distribution next year.
Prevent tooth decay
The best way to prevent cavities is proper dental hygiene. Brush your teeth twice a day and use a high-quality toothpaste. Clean your mouth with antibacterial fluids to eliminate bacteria build-up and preserve healthy teeth. Natural substitutes for toothpaste include coconut paste or oil.
Your diet is also a big factor in oral health. The food you eat determines the re-mineralization process – more minerals equals healthier teeth. However, brushing is necessary as it lowers the risk of tooth decay. A natural mineralization remedy for the teeth is eggshells.
