At the bottom of every a bottle there must be a label with the content of the bottle shown with letters, numbers or symbols.
# 1 HDP or HDPE
Recommended by experts is HDP plastic .This plastic is almost chemicals free and that is the main reason why water packed in these bottles is considered as the healthiest of all.
HDPE is recycled plastic that is one of the safest forms of plastic .Also, it can also be recycled for secondary use. Milk jugs, detergent and oil bottles, toys, and some plastic bags are made of HDPE plastic.
# 2 LDPE
LDPE plastic does not release chemicals and is used for making plastic bags.LDPE is used for making: dry cleaner garment bags, squeezable bottles, and the type of plastic bags used to package bread. This day’s stores use plastic bags made from LDPE.
# 3 PET or PETE
PET plastic release heavy metals and chemicals so if you use bottles made of PET it can affect the hormonal balance.
PET is usually used for making pop bottles or packaging. Decontamination of this plastic is very difficult and when we reuse it we increase the risk of leaching and bacterial growth. Polyethylene terephthalates may leach carcinogens.
# 4 PP
PP plastic is used for packing syrup and yoghurt cups. Polypropylene plastic has great heat-resistance qualities and is used as a barrier that stops: moisture, grease and chemicals. Cereal boxes made from PP keeps your cereal dry and fresh.
PP is also used for disposable diapers, pails, plastic bottle tops, margarine and yogurt containers, potato chip bags, straws, packing tape and rope.
# 5 PVC or 3V
Be careful with this plastic because it releases toxic chemicals that affect the hormones in your body. Plastic food wrap, cooking oil bottles, teething rings, children’s and pets’ toys, and blister packaging for myriad consumer products are made from this type of plastic. It’s also used for making of computer cables, for plastic pipes and parts for plumbing. Because of its impervious to sunlight and weather PVC used for window frames, garden hoses, arbors, raised the bed and other.
# 6 PS
PS is cheap, lightweight and easily-formed plastic with carcinogenic substances. It’s used to make : coffee cups, take-out “clamshell” food containers, egg cartons, plastic picnic cutlery, foam packaging and those ubiquitous “peanut” foam chips used to fill shipping boxes to protect the contents, and underlay sheeting for laminate flooring.
