A team of researchers who were trying to find alternative power sources discovered that potatoes are a great source of energy. Potatoes that were cooked for 8 minutes can produce 10 times more power than regular batteries.
Haim Rabinovith, professor of science and agriculture, found that using units of slices of potato quarters located between the copper cathode and zinc anode, connected with wire, can light the room with LED lights up to 40 days.
This offers numerous possibilities to people in underdeveloped countries in the world.
But, the question is: why potatoes?
– The world has endless quantities of potatoes. – They grow almost everywhere, including subtropical and tropical climate.
– Lastly, we need to remember that potatoes are not a source of energy. They are merely providing energy by acting as a bridge between all the metal. They enable the electrons to travel across the wire, thus creating electricity.
To really make an impact, perhaps the potato needs to stop being so humble.
