Scientists from University of Medical Sciences in Iran conducted interesting research. They formed two groups, each consisting of 44 women who have problems with obesity or excess weight.
Within three months, both one or the other group were prescribed menu according to which should enter 500 calories less per day. The first group of respondents at that time ate three grams cumin powder a day, mixed in 140 grams of yogurt. The second group of women consumed the same amount of yogurt without the addition of cumin.
After three months, women in the first group, who ate yogurt with cumin lost about 1-4 kg more than the respondents from the second group. The survey is even more impressive when you take into consideration the fact that the participants in the first group lost 14.64% more fat than those in the second group.
How it came about to big changes in weight from just one teaspoon cumin per day? This spice contains sitosterol – plant chemical known to prevent the retention of cholesterol. Since this is a study that proves that this spice helps with weight loss, scientists believe this happens because it speeds up metabolism.
